FRANK SCARFONE

Frank Scarfone, a Niagara Falls native, is a drummer and vocalist who started his musical journey in 1976. As one of Night Shift’s original members, he was performing throughout Niagara Falls, Buffalo and all around Western New York. Soon after, he became the drummer for Atlantis, playing regularly in the Buffalo area at the Executive Lounge (pre Playboy Club) and The Three Coins.

By the 1980’s, after a call for “a drummer needed”, Frank performed with a group named Low Budget, that eventually became the popular Doors Tribute Band, Lizard King. They signed with a management company out of Toronto; The Agency, who also managed the Canadian groups; Rush and Max Webster. Out of Vancouver, they also signed with the Sam Feldman Agency, who also managed Loverboy and Bryan Adams.

For over three years with Lizard King, Frank played the drums on an extensive Canadian coast-to coast tour. After touring, he returned home to raise his sons, but continued his musical career. He had the pleasure of playing the blues with the Imperial Garage Band and later rock classics with the group Blind Date, who included his fellow bandmates from Night Shift, 2017 Inductee Tom Gariano, Kevin Connor and 2022 Inductee Pete Zito.

Not only is Frank a drummer but he also sings and plays guitar. In the late 80’s he performed many solo gigs in various clubs in Niagara Falls and was also part of the guitar/keyboard duo The Essentials, performing throughout Western New York and Niagara Falls Ontario. Back to the drums, he was a solid performer with the groups: Mr. Ed, Dave’s All-Star Jam Band, Rich Blend, the Fabulous USA Band, Trouble, with Ron LaSalle and The East Side Rockers, and as a guitar duo; The Strang Thang with 2017 Inductee Frank Grizanti. Since 2004, he has been the drummer and a vocalist with The Frank Grizanti Band (aka FGB), a three-piece classic rock trio that also includes bassist and fellow inductee Rick Catanese. FGB plays in various venues, large and small throughout WNY and have opened the stage for international recording artists to include Gino Vanelli and Foreigner at Artpark, and Rick Emmitt at Hard Rock Cafe.

Since 2005, with The Rockers, an extended version of FGB which includes Hall of Famers Bob Volkman and fellow inductee Tony Beccari, Frank has been the drummer and one of the vocalists. In 2006, 2007 and since 2019, Frank has also been a member of the four-piece country band, West of the Mark; a staple in the WNY country music scene for over 20 years. Adding to this foursome; a female singer, a fiddle and keyboard players, is the group West of the Mark-The Prime Project, who perform for high profile events like Canal Fest, Gateway Harbor, Thursday on the Water, Taste of Country, and WYRK 106.5 sponsored events.

They performed at the Kettle Creek Music Festival in Cross Creek, PA, first as an opener in 2022 and then a headliner in 2023. In a span of over 45 years, Frank has been very busy sharing the stage and accompanying many talented musicians. He can also be heard on many of his musician friends’ original song recordings; to include NF Hall of Famer Marcangelo Perricelli, and with the Fabulous USA Band featuring other Hall of Famers, Pete Zito and Frank Geracitano.

It has been said that Frank’s style has always been one of a solid back beat, along with tasty melodic fills. His versatility and playing extensively alongside some of the most revered musicians makes him one of the best drummers to “call’ on. It is with great pleasure to welcome Frank Scarfone into the Niagara Falls Music Hall of Fame.
