THE THURMAN BROTHERS BAND

THE THURMAN BROTHERS BAND

Since 1990, the four oldest Thurman brother musicians; Dave, Jack, Randy and Rob have been entertaining music fans as The Thurman Brothers Band. Throughout their 30+ years performing, other Niagara Falls musicians have been added to their group starting with the talented guitarist/singer Joe Mombrea and bassist Steve Carveth.

Born in Canada, the four brothers moved with their parents and younger siblings to Niagara Falls New York in 1966. They were raised in a home that encouraged music. Both parents were active in the community especially the Niagara Falls Little Theatre. Their dad, Don was well known for singing the National Anthem at Niagara University games and their mom, Theresa is credited for teaching her children to sing. All nine of their children (6 boys and 3 girls) are musically talented and are actively performing and/or teaching music.

As a band, the brothers have been mainstay performers at numerous live venues throughout Western New York. They have had several successful ticket shows in larger venues to include The Rapids Theater, Buffalo’s Tralf Music Hall and in 2019, were selected to open for Foreigner at Artpark in Lewiston.

Repeatedly, they have performed in the Niagara Falls Blues Festival, Town of Niagara’s Pride in the Park and Music Mania Mondays among other festivals, sharing the stage with national/international acts such as Pat Travers, Rick Derringer, Derrek Trucks, Jeff Healy and Kim Mitchell.

Additionally, they have played numerous benefits donating their time and talents to help out causes, people, clubs and local charities. As for touring, the Thurman Brothers band toured up and down the East Coast during the 90’s. Lead vocalist and guitarist Dave and drummer Rob were in the progressive rock band ‘Real Eyes’ in the 80’s and Brother Jack was playing guitar in southern rock, blues bands. Both genres resonated well with audiences so their combined musical instrument talents and Dave’s incredible vocals, giving their fans the pleasure of hearing an array of cover songs from Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, Kansas to Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Neil Young, Rush and many more.

In addition to their cover renditions, they also have added a number of original songs to their set lists; ‘Monkey on Your Back’ written by Jack Thurman has been a fan-favorite as well as Dave’s multitude of originals, such as ‘Words’.

In addition to performing as a band, each brother performs individually in other groups or as a solo.
